3. Determine Pass or Fail: The duration of the time between the beginning and ending measurements must be equal to the time indicated in the table shown on this page.
a. Subtract the ending gallons measurement from the beginning gallons measurement.
b. If the difference is less than the value shown in the table the results are a “pass” and the tank is considered tight. However, if the difference is greater than the value shown in the table the results are a “fail.” A failing test result must be treated as a suspected release, and you must initiate an investigation (“Tank-system Integrity Assessment”) to determine the cause of the failure.
c. Refer to Chapter 8 – Release Response & Reporting for the proper procedure to follow for responding to a suspected or obvious release of product from any portion of the UST system.
