- A Statement of Scope was issued July 31, 2009, for a possible Comm 5 code development project relating to the licensing and regulation of thermal system insulation mechanics as mandated by 2009 Wisconsin Act 16 and relating to construction contractor registration as mandated by 2009 Wisconsin Act 28, s. 2155m.  The public may comment on the project within thirty days of publication of the statement, which is expected to be August 14. Contractor's Right to Cure Brochure, PDF file
- 2005 Wisconsin Act 201, the “Right to Cure Law,” (See act as PDF file) says that consumers at the time of contracting for construction or remodeling work must be provided with a brochure describing requirements for making any future claims of construction defects.

The brochure is not a substitute for the text of the law or legal counsel. Safety and Buildings Division staff do not provide interpretations of the brochure or the law.

- Download PDF file with a 8x11 poster noting a source for more info about the Building Contractor Registration and showing the decision tree explaining "Does Your Business Need to Be Registered as a Building Contractor?"  Here is a sheet of cards that can be cut apart and handed out as quick info about the BCR, PDF file.

- The BCR rules state:  Comm 5.30(4) RESPONSIBILITIES. A person or entity that holds a building contractor registration shall
do all of the following:  (a) Include his or her registration number on all construction bids and contracts.
(b) Not contract with another person or entity to engage in construction business activities unless the person or entity holds a credential under sub. (1) (a) or (b).   Download a PDF file of a document that contractors can use to keep records of the BCR numbers of sub-contractors working for the main contractor.  This is not a record that needs to be sent to S&B.  Use of the document is not required.
