Building Inspectors Institute Meets in Bayfield
Main Focus is on Uniform Dwelling Code The League of Wisconsin Municipalities annual Building Inspectors Institute was held May 3-5 in Bayfield. Sponsored by Excel Energy and Home Performance with Energy Star the general theme of the event centered on the Uniform Dwelling Code. Commerce staff providing instruction included Don Hough, Randall Mattison, Leroy Stublaski, and Ray Weber. May 7-13 was Building Safety Week. As such, during the Commerce update at the conference, Safety and Buildings Division Administrator Greg Jones spoke of the important role building inspectors play in making homes and buildings safe places where people can live, work and play. He shared the proclamation Governor Doyle presented to the Department of Commerce recognizing Building Safety Week. Others providing updates were Ron Buchholz, Jim Smith and Larry Swaziek. In addition to exploring the general theme, current International Code Council (ICC) president Henry Green presented the Wisconsin Building Inspector Association with their banner in recognition of the ICC Chapter status they achieved earlier in the year. Also on hand to congratulate the association members was ICC board member Greg Johnson. Finally, congratulations are in order to all five individuals who received "Inspector of the Year" honors from their respective associations.
