Holiday Events and Displays in the State Capitol
The following is a list of holiday events and displays that will be in the State Capitol Rotunda throughout December:
2006 Holiday Tree
- Height: 35-feet
- Type: Balsam Fir
- Donor: The people of Douglas County
- Source: Tree was harvested from Douglas County Forest property south of Solon Springs
- Decorations:
The tree's ornaments were made by public and private schoolchildren in Wisconsin reflecting this year's theme of "Color Wisconsin," a Wisconsin & Southern Railroad toy locomotive is circling the base of the tree
- Lights:
Tree is adorned with 2,400 energy-efficient LED (light-emitting diode) lights
- Installation:
Tree was moved into the Capitol Rotunda on Monday, November 27, 2006
- Illumination:
Lighting ceremony will be held Friday, December 1 at 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
- Special Thanks:
The Department of Administration wishes to extend a special thank you to the following individuals and businesses who helped make this year's Holiday Tree display possible: Max Ericson of Ericson Logging in Minong for harvesting the tree; Don Kinsley of Kinsley Forest Products of Winter for transporting the tree; Douglas County Director of Forestry Jon Harris and crew; and Ken Lucht of the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Company.
