WISCOMP, the WISconsin Commerce Online Mapping Project, is the Wisconsin Department of Commerce effort to bring Internet mapping services to Commerce web customers. WISCOMP uses Environmental Systems Research Institute Arc Internet Mapping Server (ArcIMS) technology and GeoTools Java based Internet Mapping technology.
WISCOMP ArcIMS services evolved from the development of BLIS, the Brownfields Location Information System. The concept behind the WISCOMP ArcIMS based services is to provide a framework to allow for faster deployment of Internet mapping applications. This framework will give all Commerce Internet mapping applications a similar look and feel. Users will be able to switch from one Commerce Internet mapping application to another without significant need to relearn how the mapping application functions. Click here to learn more about ArcIMS.
Commerce is also working to develop Internet mapping applications using the GeoTools Java based Internet mapping toolkit. GeoTools is an open source toolkit built on Java applets. Click here to learn more about GeoTools.
The following links demonstrate Internet mapping applications built from the ArcIMS framework and GeoTools. Click on a link below to go to the Internet mapping application. It is recommended that you review any application instructions prior to using the application. This document was last revised: March 27, 2002
