How to obtain Safety and Buildings Division codes

Here is an index of links to S&B-related Wisconsin administrative free online codes.

Paper copies of Wisconsin administrative codes may be purchased from the Document Sales and Distribution office of the Wisconsin Department of Administration. Document Sales offers an update service, for a fee, to provide copies of any state code revisions during a subscribed period of time. The state update service does NOT include any update adopted standards. 

- You may telephone Document Sales (with a Visa or MasterCard credit card), 800-362-7253, or 608-264-9419.
- You may purchase from the Document Sales office, 202 South Thornton Avenue, Madison, 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- You may purchase through the mail (with an order form) using a check, money order, or Visa or MasterCard credit card. The order form is available by calling 800-362-7253, or 608-264-9419, or from the Document Sales Web site.
- You may order by fax, 608-261-8150, using the order form along with a Visa or MasterCard credit card.

Commercial Building Codes, Comm 60-66
The Wisconsin Commercial Building Code can be obtained from Document Sales, as noted above, or is free online.  

The Wisconsin Commercial Building code adopts parts of 2006 editions of the International Code Council Codes.  There is currently consideration of adopting 2009 versions.

The adopted International Code Council codes and commentary are available from that organization, http://www.iccsafe.org/.  

There is no longer an Enrolled version of the Commercial Building Code combining in one document the Wisconsin codes and the ICC codes.  

Free insert pages are online for putting Wisconsin portions of the codes into the International Code Council code books (ICC 3-ring binder format).

The Safety and Buildings Division has a paper archive of old codes in the Madison office that can be seen by appointment.  Contact Lori Ann Curley, S&B code developer, lori.curley@wi.gov. S&B does not have electronic copies of codes that were in effect in the past.  There is a roundabout way to get access to Internet PDF copies of some older codes on the Legislative Reference Bureau's Web site.  More info on how to do follow that process, PDF file.
