Governor Doyle Announces Funding for the Village of Taylor
For Immediate Release: September 9, 2010 MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the Village of Taylor, Jackson County, has received a $346,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to help reconstruct village streets and improve related infrastructure. "Investing in infrastructure lays the groundwork for community growth and business expansions," Governor Doyle said. "We must continue our support for projects like this to ensure that Wisconsin communities continue moving forward." The Village of Taylor will reconstruct 1st and 4th Streets, updating the water, storm, and sanitary sewer systems. It will also install a pedestrian path on 4th Street. In addition, the village will connect the water main loop between Bridge and Kelly Streets and add a new fire hydrant, increasing fire protection for the residents and businesses in the community. Total project cost is $578,570. CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
