National Entrepreneurship Week 2010 Plans Underway

For Immediate Release: February 23, 2010
Contact: Tony Hozeny, Department of Commerce, 608-267-9661

MADISON - Schools, businesses, communities, organizations and individuals are invited to submit their National Entrepreneurship Week (NEW) 2010 activities to the Department of Commerce for promotion on the National Entrepreneurship web site clearinghouse. The fourth annual recognition of National Entrepreneurship Week occurs February 21 - 27, 2010.

"I encourage everyone interested in teaching or learning more about the role entrepreneurs will play in the future economy of Wisconsin - and the world - to participate in National Entrepreneurship Week 2010," said Department of Commerce Secretary Richard J. Leinenkugel.

Across Wisconsin, business assistance providers have made plans to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in all aspiring entrepreneurs. During the week-long celebration, many of the Wisconsin Entrepreneur Network business assistance partners and other organizations will host workshops providing an opportunity to learn about the many statewide resources available for empowering persons to think entrepreneurially. Interested persons will find Wisconsin events, entrepreneurial workshops and Governor Doyle's proclamation on the National Consortium for Education Excellence web site at http://www.nationaleweek.org.

In recognition of the week long celebration of Wisconsin's entrepreneurial spirit, the Commerce web site will include video clips from Department of Commerce Secretary Leinenkugel, Jordan Leahy, winner of Northwestern University's Entrepreneurship Idol award, member of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization and owner of Clest LLC and the 2010 winners of the Young Entrepreneur Recognition award.
