"I have worked hard as Governor to make Wisconsin a friendly place to do business, and am thrilled that Enzymatic Therapy has decided to consolidate its operations here in Wisconsin," Governor Doyle said. "Today's announcement shows that when we support good, Wisconsin businesses and their workers, we can keep our state home to some of the greatest and most promising businesses in the world." Governor Doyle is providing a $500,000 loan to Enzymatic Therapy through the Department of Commerce, as well as $400,000 in tax credits to assist the company with the consolidation. Under Act 2, the recovery bill the Governor signed this spring, Governor Doyle is continuing his commitment to businesses that will create jobs and lead to future growth. Governor Doyle's Next Generation Manufacturing Initiative improves the state's ability to focus on manufacturers and business like Enzymatic Therapy that are creating jobs, retaining jobs, and investing capital in Wisconsin. Under the Governor's initiative, Commerce consolidated the five existing economic development programs into one - streamlining administrative issues and better focusing resources on supporting job creation and retention, worker training and investment in new equipment. Enzymatic Therapy, Inc. was formed from the merger of four local herbal medicine companies. It sells herbal medicines to health food stores, mass merchants and health care professionals, and is now North America's leading manufacturer of dietary supplements and natural medicines. The company currently maintains sales, marketing, distribution, manufacturing, and headquarters functions in Green Bay. It is consolidating Utah manufacturing operations in Green Bay and adding new technologies and equipment at a total project cost of $11 million. The Commerce funds will be used to purchase equipment and for working capital.
