Governor Doyle Announces $7 Million in Federal Recovery Funds for Community Development Projects

MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle today announced that 15 community projects would share $7,045,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to support infrastructure and business development projects.

"These Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds will create opportunities for hardworking families and strengthen infrastructure throughout Wisconsin," Governor Doyle said. "These infrastructure and business development projects will help us to create good jobs and grow the economy of our state."

The projects are as follows:

City of Dodgeville, Iowa County, $260,000 grant
The project includes the construction of a dental clinic and free medical clinic. Total project cost is $676,850.

City of Necedah, Juneau County, $610,000 grant
The project includes the construction of a library. Total project cost is $1.3 million.

City of Nekoosa, Wood County, $510,000 grant
The project includes the construction of a senior and community center. Total project cost is $1.4 million.

Village of Milltown, Polk County, $260,000 grant
The project includes the construction of an adult development center. Total project cost is $625,000.

City of Plymouth, Sheboygan County, $760,000 grant
The project includes the construction of a center that will house a senior center, foods pantry, child day care services and Head Start program. Total project cost is $4.2 million.

City of Rhinelander, Oneida County, $460,000 grant
The project includes the construction of a fire station addition for ambulance services. Total project cost is $900,000.

Village of Turtle Lake, Barron County, $610,000 grant
The project includes the construction of a library and storm shelter. Total project cost is $1.3 million.

Village of Webster, Burnett County, $360,000 grant
The project includes the construction of a library. Total project cost is $700,000.

Village of Westfield, Marquette County, $560,000 grant
The project includes the construction of a senior center. Total project cost is $1.2 million.

City of Blair, Trempealeau County, $260,000 grant
The project includes downtown improvements such as sidewalks, streetlights and parking. Total project cost is $500,000.

City of Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County, $660,000 grant
The project includes downtown waterfront redevelopment and infrastructure improvements. Total project cost is $3 million.

Village of Hawkins, Rusk County, $360,000 grant
The project provides business park infrastructure for Jeld-Wen Windows, a manufacturer of energy-efficient doors and windows. The project represents $1.5 million in new investment.

City of Menomonie, Dunn County, $205,000 grant
The project includes infrastructure to support an expansion by ConAgra/Swiss Miss, a food processor. Total project cost is $260,000.

Village of Plain, Sauk County, $1,010,000 grant
The project supports training at-risk youth from five school districts at the LEEDS Training Center to obtain skills for careers in the green industry. Total project cost is $2.7 million.

Village of Wautoma, Waushara County, $160,000 grant
The project includes infrastructure to support an expansion by Stoneridge LLC, a meat processor. Total project cost is $600,000.
