Governor Doyle Announces Funding for Storm Sewer Improvement Project in Burnett County
For Immediate Release: October 23, 2008 MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the Village of Siren in Burnett County will receive a $179,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant - Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce to fund its storm sewer improvement project. "In light of our current national economic downturn, it's important we continue to invest in the infrastructure that will grow communities like Siren and develop local businesses," Governor Doyle said. The Village of Siren is upgrading its storm sewer system. Plans include the installation of storm sewer pipes, the construction of a storm water detention pond, and street reconstruction. Total project cost is $593,787. CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
