Projects to Create 127 Jobs for Hardworking Wisconsin Families

BRILLION - Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the City of Brillion will receive a $247,400 Community Development Block Grant for infrastructure improvements to support expansions by two local businesses. Professional Plating and Endries International, combined with public support, will invest more than $11 million in expansions that will lead to 127 new jobs for the area.

"Manufacturing is one of the real cornerstones of our state and in order to compete in the global economy we need companies like Endries International and Professional Plating to lead the way," Governor Doyle said. "I am pleased that we could assist the City of Brillion in supporting expansions by these two companies that will lead to 127 new jobs for hardworking Wisconsin families in the area."

The City of Brillion will use the grant to make road improvements necessary to accommodate increased truck traffic to and from the two companies. It will also install water main and storm and sanitary sewer services.

Professional Plating is a family-owned, full-line job shop metal finishing facility. It provides finishing to raw metal products such as bolts and screws. Its expansion will create 32 jobs.

Endries International provides inventory management solutions to original equipment manufacturers and maintenance and repair operations. The firm specializes in high-volume low-unit cost components, used in the assembly of items as diverse as fire trucks, snow blowers and precision medical equipment. Its expansion will create 95 jobs.

In order to improve the competitiveness of Wisconsin's manufacturing sector in the global economy, Governor Doyle has launched a comprehensive plan to invest in the Next Generation of Manufacturing by focusing on efficiency and lean manufacturing principles. Governor Doyle's plan targets $85 million in tax credits to leverage $1.6 billion in private capital investment, creating 5,000 new jobs and training more than 4,000 workers for the manufacturing jobs of tomorrow.

CDBG grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community buildings, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtown areas.
