Governor Doyle Announces Funding for Water Main Replacement in Vernon/Richland County
For Immediate Release: June 24, 2008 MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the Village of Viola, Vernon/Richland County, will receive a $330,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant - Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program of the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to fund its water main replacement project. "Investing in infrastructure is important for community growth and for the development of local businesses," Governor Doyle said. "That's why we must continue our support for projects like this that will improve overall community development." The Village of Viola is upgrading its water distribution system. Plans include the repair and addition of water mains and fire hydrants. Total project cost is $659,942. CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
