Governor Doyle Announces Emergency Assistance Grant for Grant County

For Immediate Release: September 24, 2007
Contact: Tony Hozeny, Department of Commerce, 608/267-9661

MADISON - Governor Jim Doyle today announced that Grant County will receive $401,500 in Community Development Block Grant-Emergency Assistance Program (CDBG-EAP) grant from the Department of Commerce (Commerce) to help the Village of Bagley and environs recover from a July flood.

"It's important that we respond quickly when our communities are hit hard by weather-related events," said Commerce Secretary Mary P. Burke. "I'm pleased that we could work with Grant County to provide emergency assistance to area residents who experienced damage to their homes as a result of flooding."

Grant County will use the funds to assist low- to moderate-income residents with home repairs and home replacement costs that are not covered by insurance. Commerce provides the funding directly to the county, which in turn distributes it to qualified individuals affected by the Bagley flooding situation.

The CDBG-EAP helps communities that have recently been affected by a natural or man-made disaster. For more information on this program, contact Caryn Stone, Commerce, 608/267-3682.
