Governor Doyle Announces over $7 Million to Benefit Homeless Persons
For Immediate Release: July 25, 2007 WISCONSIN DELLS - Governor Jim Doyle today announced $7,270,027 to 136 organizations across Wisconsin for emergency shelter and transitional housing programs administered by the Division of Housing and community development in the Department of Commerce (Commerce). Commerce Secretary Mary P. Burke announced the awards on behalf of the Governor at the Wisconsin Conference on Homelessness at the Ho-Chunk Casino, Hotel and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. "My priority as Governor is to create opportunity for all Wisconsin citizens," Governor Doyle said. "By providing more emergency shelter and transitional housing services, we can help more Wisconsin families struggling to find a home, and put them on a path to a better life."
