Governor Doyle Announces $331,000 to Improve Infrastructure from Brokaw to Wausau
For Immediate Release: March 16, 2007 MADISON-Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the City of Brokaw, Marathon County, will receive a $331,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) Program to construct a water main from Brokaw to Wausau. "Investing in infrastructure improves not only the flow of people and products, but also enhances the ability for communities and businesses to grow," Governor Doyle said. "That's why we must continue our support for projects like this that will improve water supply and capacity." The Village of Brokaw is constructing a new water main and booster station connecting Brokaw to the Wausau water system. Total project cost is $1,781,090. The Department of Commerce (Commerce) administers the CDBG Program. These CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
