Governor Doyle Announces Funding for Fire Trucks in Bear Creek

For Immediate Release: March 12, 2007
Contact: Tony Hozeny, Department of Commerce, 608-267-9661

MADISON-Governor Jim Doyle announced that the Village of Bear Creek, Outagamie County, will receive a $90,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) program administered by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce (Commerce) to assist with the replacement of inadequate fire trucks.

"My administration is committed to improving public safety and community infrastructure around the state" said Governor Doyle. "I'm pleased we can help improve fire protection services for Bear Creek citizens and those of the surrounding townships."

The Village of Bear Creek is investing in a project to replace three fire trucks. The new fire trucks will improve fire protection for area residents and businesses. It will also give Bear Creek a more favorable fire rating, which translates to lower fire insurance premiums. The replacement of the fire trucks will improve the quality of safety provided by the Bear Creek Fire Department. Total project cost is $694,775.

The Department of Commerce (Commerce) administers the CDBG Program. These CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
