MADISON-Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the City of Fennimore, Grant County, will receive a $156,000 grant from the Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities (CDBG-PF) Program to assist with roadway and storm drainage improvements.

"This project will allow the City of Fennimore to accommodate the new U.S. Highway 61 improvements and improve roadway drainage," Governor Doyle said.

The Department of Transportation is rebuilding a section of highway 61 (Lincoln Ave.) that runs through Fennimore. The city will install underground utilities and street and storm drainage.

The Department of Commerce (Commerce) administers the CDBG Program. These CDBG-PF grants play an important role in helping communities finance a wide range of projects designed to enhance the economic vitality of the community through the provision of community infrastructure, the expansion of tax base, job creation, and increased private investment in downtowns.
