Financial Services for Export Businesses in Today’s Market
The Stateline World Trade Association (SLWTA) welcomes Ms. Betsy Makris, Mr. Jan Blaho, and Ms. Lisa Spano to its November 20, 2008 dinner meeting. The three will speak on financial services available to businesses involved in import and export and how those services can improve your bottom line in today’s global financial crisis.  The meeting will be held at the Beloit Inn, 500 Pleasant Street at 5:30 p.m.

Ms. Makris is a Vice President of Middle Market Banking at JPMorgan Chase. Ms. Makris joined the bank in 1990 to launch and manage the Private Banking Group in Rockford, and later expanded to Commercial Banking.  Most recently, her focus has been on building and sustaining relationships with domestic and global middle market companies in Illinois and southern Wisconsin.  Mr. Blaho is Business Development Officer at the U.S. ExIm Bank.  During his career Mr. Blaho has worked at several international banks, most recently for VUB Bank in Slovakia where he was a Member of the Board and the Executive Director for the Corporate Banking Division. While there, he worked with structured trade finance, syndications, and small and medium enterprises.  In October 2007 Mr. Blaho received ExIm Bank’s Chairman Award for his effectiveness in servicing the small business community.  Ms. Spano is a Vice President of Global Trade Services at JPMorgan Chase Bank.  Ms. Spano’s focus is on providing trade finance solutions to U.S. corporate clients in the area of classical trade including letters of credit, and structured trade and receivables financing.  Her services and expertise enables clients to integrate their international financial and physical supply chain by providing solutions for improving cost reduction, supply chain efficiency, working capital and compliance and risk management.

The SLWTA was formed in 1987 to promote an understanding and appreciation of the international marketplace.  The November 20th meeting will start with networking and cash bar at 5:30 pm, dinner at 6:15 pm, and program immediately following dinner.  Cost is $25 for members, $30 for non-members and $15 for students with ID.  Registration must be received by Tuesday, November 18.  To register call Ms. Jennifer Bonk at (608) 365-8835 or register on-line at http://www.slwta.org.
