New Service Fees from Federal Government
Mr. Israel Hernandez, Assistant Secretary for Trade Promotion and
Director General of the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service (CS)
has
announced a new user fee schedule for U.S. federal government export
promotion services that will be implemented on May 1, 2008. In an
effort to broaden and deepen the U.S. exporter base, the new fee
schedule will enhance the U.S. Department of Commerce’s
ability
to serve small companies and companies that are new to
exporting.
The new fee schedule is designed to:
- Offer single worldwide fees for each standardized
service to replace the complex four-band fee system
- Provide an incentive for certain companies to try CS
services for the first time by offering a first time discount
- Maintain fees for small- and medium-sized enterprises
at levels that preserve their access to CS export assistance programs
- Adjust fees to full cost recovery levels for large
companies
