Distinguished Service Award Presented to Monte Ewing

Monte R. Ewing, Electrical Engineering Consultant, Commerce, has been recognized with the Distinguished Service Award from the Rural Electricity Resource Council (RERC). Ewing's involvement in the Wisconsin rewiring program and his education of farm customers was highlighted at the presentation, made during the RERC Annual Conference, held near Cincinnati.

"The individual receiving this award must be nominated by his or her peers, and then approved by a selection committee," says RERC Executive Manager Richard Hiatt. At the April 22 Awards Luncheon, Ewing was recognized for his dedicated efforts in educating a wide audience of farmers, electric power suppliers and the pubic on the unique wiring needs of agriculture. The success of the state's program in farm wiring depends on correctly interpreting electrical Code requirements, and applying them practically in a good farm installation.

"We are glad to honor individuals like Monte Ewing, who can serve as an example to others," says Hiatt. As a national association of electric companies and cooperatives formed in 1957, the Rural Electricity Resource Council sponsors this award to spotlight outstanding service and commitment to the rural sector. Additional information on the RERC program, along with energy management and electrical safety materials can be found at www.rerc.org.
