IMPORTANT: As of July 1st, 2011, functions once performed by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce have been moved to other state agencies and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. The former Commerce web site will continue to exist for the next several months as resources are moved to new web site locations. Homeless Conference in Middleton July 21

The 2009 Annual Wisconsin Conference on Homelessness (view agenda) will be held on July 21 at the Madison Marriott West, 1313 John Q. Hammons Drive, Middleton. The keynote speaker for this year's event will be Dr. Wayne Centrone, a family practice physician from Portland, Oregon who has dedicated his career to working with homeless and underserved populations. Dr. Centrone, the Medical Director of the Outreach Program at the Outside In Medical Clinic will address the long- and short-term consequences of poverty and homelessness on health.

Wisconsin Department of Commerce Secretary Richard L. Leinenkugel will also speak at the day-long conference as will Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz. You can register online for the conference.

Following the Conference on Homelessness, the Wisconsin Collaborative for Affordable Housing will host the 13th Annual A Home for Everyone Conference (July 22-23) at the Madison Marriott West.
