IMPORTANT: As of July 1st, 2011, functions once performed by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce have been moved to other state agencies and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Good News: Wisconsin Drops Out of Top Ten in Taxes

Based on US Census Bureau data, Wisconsin has, nationally, fallen to 11th place in terms of the amount of taxes residents paid as a percentage of their incomes in 2006, the most recent year statistics have been available.
