Governor and First Lady Doyle Announce Schedule for Public Holiday Tours at the Executive Residence

Governor Jim Doyle and First Lady Jessica Doyle announced recently that the public holiday tours of Wisconsin's Executive Residence will begin December 4, 2008. Each guided tour lasts about 30 minutes and includes a brief history of the Executive Residence. Those participating in a tour will enjoy 6 trees, each decorated to honor a Wisconsin group or theme.

"Jessica and I are pleased to welcome people from across the state to Wisconsin's Executive Residence," Governor Doyle said. "Visiting the Residence is a special way to celebrate the holiday season."

The schedule for holiday tours of the Executive Residence is as follows:

  • Thursday, December 11 - 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Saturday, December 13 - 12:00 – 2:00 pm
  • Tuesday, December 16 - 12:00 – 2:00 pm
  • Thursday, December 18 - 12:00 – 2:00 pm
  • Saturday, December 20 - 12:00 – 2:00 pm

Entertainment will highlight each tour. The entertainment schedule includes:

Saturday, December 13 12:00 – 1:00 pm Men of Blackhawk Choir
  1:00 – 2:00 pm Last Gaspé Irish Music
Tuesday, December 16 12:00 – 1:00 pm Leotha Stanley & Falk El, Madison
  1:00 – 2:00 pm Letrice Stanley & Westside El, Sun Prairie
Thursday, December 18 12:00 – 1:00 pm Deerfield HS Show Choir
  1:00 – 2:00 pm Marshall HS Choir
Saturday, December 20 12:30 – 1:30 pm Doris Cook Shumacher, Madison pianist

Trees include: Tribute to Our Troops (Wisconsin servicemen and women), Made in Wisconsin (Wisconsin companies and products), Buon Natale (Italian heritage), Giving Tree (Wisconsin's charitable

organizations), Deck the Halls (Higher education students' proudest achievements), and Bright Star (4th Graders' ornaments representing their favorite unique and talented Wisconsinites).

There is no charge for admission, but participants in the tours are encouraged to bring new or nearly new children's books to the Executive Residence. Books collected will be distributed to literacy organizations.

The Executive Residence is handicapped accessible. The Executive Residence is located at 99 Cambridge Road on Madison's northeast side in the Village of Maple Bluff.
