Young Entrepreneurs of the Year Honored by Governor Doyle

This year's National Entrepreneurship Week partnership between the Department of Commerce and the Department of Public Instruction showcased the winners of the Young Entrepreneur in a one-hour web cast. The winners, Hannah Iverson of Plum City H.S. and Natasha Holmes of Madison West H.S. were presented with recognition plaques by the Governor Doyle at the beginning of the web cast on February 27, 2008. Madison businessman Rishi Shah was recognized by the Governor for his efforts as a Young Entrepreneur. Both Commerce Secretary Jack L. Fischer and Superintendent of Schools Libby Burmaster commended the award winners for their entrepreneurial accomplishments.

The web cast provided the viewers with insight about hurdles and awards that entrepreneurship has brought to the three young entrepreneurs. Rishi Shah's business, Flying Cart, received nationwide recognition through Business Week as an e-commerce business owned by a young entrepreneur. Over 70 schools watched the web cast and the entrepreneurial web cast is available at http://commerce.wi.gov/eweek.

Another opportunity to celebrate Wisconsin's entrepreneurial spirit will be the recognition of Global Entrepreneurship Week being held November 17-23, 2008. The Kauffman Foundation has already started the countdown to the world's biggest single event to celebrate and promote entrepreneurship amongst young people.
