Second Annual Nelson Institute Earth Day Conference Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison

Sustaining Wisconsin's Environment & Economy: Responding to Climate Change will explore one of the most critical issues facing our state.  More than 40 speakers from business, state government, non-profit organizations and academia will share the latest in scientific research, policy development and technical innovation, including:

  • Growing risks to life and property of extreme weather events such as storms and floods.
  • The challenge of assessing climate risks in the face of scientific uncertainty.
  • Potential opportunities for business growth and job creation in energy efficiency, alternative fuels and other innovations.
  • Risks to the health of Wisconsin citizens posed by a changing climate.
  • Challenges faced by fish and wildlife, forests, water resources and other of Wisconsin’s natural resources.
  • Introduction of a new statewide program to assess potential climate change impacts and develop adaptation strategies.
